    Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Bernedoodles and Halo BerneDo

    About Bernedoodles

    What is an F1B Bernedoodle?

An F1B Bernedoodle is approximately 75% Poodle and 25% Bernese Mountain Dog, produced by breeding an F1 Bernedoodle with a Poodle. Our puppies are sold as non-registered companion pets, without kennel-club registration or pedigree documents. Coat, size, and temperament vary by puppy.

    Are Bernedoodles good family dogs?

Our puppies receive child socialization and early training in our home. Bernedoodles can be affectionate family companions, but each puppy is an individual. The purchaser is responsible for training, socialization, supervision, and care after pickup or delivery; no future behavior or temperament is guaranteed.

    Are Bernedoodles hypoallergenic?

Good Dog describes Bernedoodles as allergy-friendly and low shedding. No dog is completely hypoallergenic, and shedding and allergic reactions vary. We do not guarantee a non-shedding coat or that a puppy will not trigger allergies.

    How big do Bernedoodles get?

Our puppies are medium size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

    Finding a Breeder

How do I find a reputable dog breeder near me?

Ask about parent testing, the home environment, enrichment, and written purchase policies. Read the actual test reports and contract rather than assuming screening guarantees puppy health. Halo BerneDo is a Good Dog breeder in Greenville, SC; our contract explains our limited pre-pickup assurances and states that there is no health guarantee after pickup or delivery.

What makes Halo BerneDo different from other breeders?

We only raise one litter per year, giving each puppy royal treatment. They’re bathed with organic products, trained to use a doggie doorbell, paddle board, and follow basic commands like sit, stay, and come. We also begin leash work early. Each pup is loved as if they’ll stay with us forever—because that’s how great companions begin.

    Where is Halo BerneDo located?

Halo BerneDo is located in Greenville, South Carolina. We serve families throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. Contact us at 864-201-8499 or halobernedo@gmail.com to schedule a visit or video call.

    Puppy Process

When can I bring my Bernedoodle puppy home?

Pickup takes place at eight weeks old. The uploaded contract for the current litter specifies December 17, 2026. Delivery dates or other delivery and boarding arrangements may be specified in Additional Terms/Disclosures, and the seller may adjust delivery dates with written notice. Use your signed contract and any written delivery notice for your arrangements.

How do I apply for a Bernedoodle puppy?

Fill out our puppy application on the Apply page, or contact us directly at halobernedo@gmail.com or call 864-201-8499. We'll ask about your family situation, experience with dogs, and what you're looking for in a puppy. This helps us match the right puppy with the right family when our next litter arrives.

What comes with my Bernedoodle puppy?

Go-home bag: doggie doorbell, care instructions, grooming guidelines, mother-scented toy. Weekly video updates are provided until eight weeks. Vet visits and deworming are provided; vaccinations follow the option selected in your contract, not an automatic promise of shots for every puppy. There is no health guarantee after pickup or delivery.

    Cost & Pricing

How much does a Bernedoodle puppy cost?

Good Dog currently lists a $500 deposit plus a remaining balance of $1,000–$1,700, for a total of $1,500–$2,200 before applicable taxes and fees. Your selected puppy’s purchase price is agreed in your contract. Pricing may change for other buyers but does not change the purchase price already agreed with you. A $500 deposit is due when the contract is signed. It is non-refundable except for the specific refund conditions in the purchase contract. The remaining balance is due in full no later than one (1) day prior to pickup, or one (1) day prior to the date the Seller departs for delivery. Final payment is not due on pickup day or delivery day.

    Are Bernedoodles expensive to maintain?

Bernedoodles require regular grooming every 6-8 weeks (professional grooming costs $60-$100), quality dog food ($50-$80/month), annual vet visits and preventative care ($300-$500/year), and toys/supplies. They're considered moderate maintenance dogs—less than high-energy breeds but require consistent grooming due to their coat.

    Health & Care

What health testing do Halo BerneDo parents have?

The puppy’s mother was DNA health tested through Wisdom Panel and the puppy’s father was DNA health tested through Embark, and each parent was confirmed to be clear of the genetic health conditions included in the panel used for that parent. The testing screens only for the specific conditions included in those panels and does not guarantee the health of any puppy. The Seller provides no health guarantee after pickup or delivery.

How much exercise do Bernedoodles need?

Bernedoodles need moderate daily exercise—typically 30-60 minutes of walking, playing, or activity. They're adaptable dogs that can thrive in various living situations as long as they get regular exercise and mental stimulation. They enjoy hiking, swimming, fetch, and family activities.

    Are Bernedoodles easy to train?

Yes! Bernedoodles are highly intelligent (thanks to their Poodle genetics) and eager to please (thanks to their Bernese Mountain Dog side). This makes them very trainable. They respond best to positive reinforcement training. Early socialization and consistent training produce confident, well-mannered dogs.

    Purchase Terms

Is the $500 puppy deposit refundable?

To reserve a puppy, the Purchaser is required to make a deposit of $500 due upon execution of this contract. The deposit is non-refundable except as expressly provided in this section. If the selected puppy dies or has a health concern confirmed by seller’s vet before the pickup date, and no other puppies are available from the current litter, the deposit will be fully refunded. Alternatively, the Purchaser may choose to use the deposit to reserve a puppy from the next available litter, subject to this contract's terms. If no litter is produced within 1.5 years from the contract date, the deposit will be fully refunded to the purchaser.

When is the final payment due?

The remaining balance is due in full no later than one (1) day prior to pickup, or one (1) day prior to the date the Seller departs for delivery. Final payment is not due on pickup day or delivery day.

Which payment methods do you accept?

The Seller accepts payment for the puppy via Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, debit/credit card, or Cash. The Seller also accepts payment through GoodDog, but only if the Purchaser found the Seller through GoodDog, in which case payment must be made through GoodDog as GoodDog requires. Checks or money orders of any kind will not be accepted. The Purchaser is responsible for processing fees. All payments other than GoodDog payments are made to Vanderbeek Properties, LLC.

How does puppy selection and reservation order work?

Puppy selection takes place at four weeks old, in reservation order. Reservation number 1 selects first, number 2 selects second, and so on. Buyers may choose only from puppies still available when their turn comes. For the litter covered by the uploaded contract, selection is November 19, 2026, and pickup at eight weeks is December 17, 2026. Buyers signing after selection choose an available puppy at signing. Failure to select on the required date may result in forfeiture of the deposit.

    Do puppies come with vaccinations?

Vaccinations are handled according to the buyer’s selected option in the contract: seller-provided age-appropriate vaccinations no later than three (3) days before pickup, or three (3) days before the Seller departs for delivery, with vaccination records provided; OR a purchaser vaccination waiver, under which the buyer arranges all vaccinations through their own licensed veterinarian. Vet visits and deworming are provided before pickup or delivery. Under either option, the purchaser is responsible for rabies vaccination by a licensed veterinarian as required by South Carolina law.

Do you provide a health guarantee?

The Seller provides no warranty or guarantee, express or implied, regarding the puppy’s health, genetic or hereditary condition, or future health after pickup or delivery. The puppy wellness visits and the contract’s deposit refund terms that apply before pickup are the only health-related assurances the Seller provides.

    Are your puppies AKC registered?

The puppies sold under this Contract are F1B Bernedoodles (approximately 75% Poodle and 25% Bernese Mountain Dog). The puppies are NOT registered with the American Kennel Club or any other kennel club, breed registry, or pedigree organization, and no registration papers or pedigree documents will be provided.

Can I breed my Halo BerneDo puppy?

Puppies are sold as companion pets. Siring or breeding is strictly prohibited. The contract provides for an amount equal to 200% of the puppy’s original purchase price, excluding processing and delivery fees, if the purchaser breeds, sires, or attempts to breed or sire the puppy.

How do pickup and delivery arrangements work?

Pickup is from the Seller’s designated location. Direct delivery location and fee are agreed in the contract. Delivery fees are paid with the final payment, no later than one day before the Seller departs. The uploaded contract lists December 17, 2026 as the delivery date, unless the Seller specifies a different date or terms in Additional Terms/Disclosures. The Seller may coordinate deliveries and notify buyers of changes in writing. Failure to pay by the deadline or be available for delivery can result in cancellation and loss of the purchase price and delivery fee under the contract.
